A coffee with ...

... Laura Sophie Keller
(Head of Sales and Revenue Management,
ATLANTIC Hotel Lübeck)
How long have you been working at the ATLANTIC Hotel Lübeck?
LK: Next year, I will have been working here for five years. I started here in mid-June 2021.
How did you get into the hotel industry and what has your career path been like so far?
LK: Both my parents work in the hotel industry: my father is a trained chef and my mother is a trained restaurant manager. During my childhood and youth, I initially did not want to enter the industry. However, after completing an internship at a hotel in Lüneburg, I realized that my passion lies in the hospitality industry. After graduating from high school, I completed a voluntary social year and began an apprenticeship as a specialist in the hotel business in Timmendorfer Strand in 2016. I shortened my training to 2.5 years and afterwards I continued working for another six months in the hotel's room reservation department. After that, I took a short break from the hotel industry, lived in Cologne for six months and worked at the reception desk of a company's business center. From Cologne, I moved to Kiel and worked there as an executive assistant at another company. I lived in Kiel for a year, then moved to Lübeck and shortly afterwards started working here at the ATLANTIC Hotel Lübeck as a sales assistant. In December 2022, I became sales manager, and in November 2023, I became head of sales and revenue management.
Where would you absolutely love to travel to?
LK: I would like to take a trip to Canada.
Where were you born and raised?
LK: I was born in Hamburg and moved to Lüneburg when I was about 4 years old. I lived there until I moved out of my parents' house.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
LK: The variety with different guests, colleagues, and customers. My job is very diverse – ultimately like a colorful bouquet of flowers, and that's exactly what I like most.
What are your responsibilities as Head of Sales & Revenue Management?
LK: It is a colorful bouquet of different activities. In the area of sales, this includes drafting contracts with companies and leisure businesses. In marketing, I take care of all printed materials, the website, our Advertising campaigns, and, of course, social media. In revenue management, I am responsible for the daily pricing of hotel rooms, and I also help out with event sales and respond to guest Feedback.
What motivates you?
LK: What motivates me in my work is the daily contact with guests and their satisfaction. In my private life, it's a combination of sports and time spent in nature – by the sea and in the fresh air.
What was the last training course or workshop you attended?
LK: My last training course was a first aid course. Before that, we had a very good internal training program with several modules and an external trainer in the department management team.
Why ATLANTIC?
LK: When I applied, I thought the hotel, with its values and team, was a perfect fit for me. I strongly identify with the hotel group and the hotel itself, and I've been able to grow with the group over the past few years, and I see further long-term opportunities.
Describe yourself in three words.
LK: Organized – Helpful – Humorous
What does a typical workday look like for you?
LK: When I arrive at the hotel in the morning, the first thing I do is turn on my laptop and check my emails. I also inform the reception that I have arrived. Then I check whether any new guest feedback has been received and how room occupancy has changed. Next, I check the current market pricing and then turn my attention to the appointments scheduled for the day.
Which of the ATLANTIC benefits do you use the most?
LK: Membership of EGYM Wellpass and, until recently, company bike leasing.
Do you have any New Year's resolutions for 2026?
LK: The classic New Year's resolutions that many people have: more exercise, more sport, taking care of myself, and a good work-life balance. I also want to run my first half marathon.
Do you have a leisure tip for us in Lübeck?
LK: When the weather is good, I definitely recommend a tour with BOAT NOW. These are small electric boats that can accommodate up to six people and take you around the old town island in about an hour.
When I'm not working, I...
LK: … often spend time at the Baltic Sea when the weather is good, and otherwise I'm at the gym or traveling.
Lübeck is…
LK: … my home.
