Auf einen Kaffee mit Nina Neuhoff (Stellv. Reservierungsleitung, Severin*s Resort & Spa)

Dear Mrs. Neuhoff,
thank you for giving us a few insights into your (Severin*s-) life. It's great to have you as part of the team!

Why did you start working at Severin*s Resort & Spa?
NN: I always wanted to work in a vacation destination by the sea and my vocational school teacher said: "You should definitely be part of a new opening". And then I applied and became part of the opening team and all my wishes were fulfilled

You have been part of the team since Severin*s Resort & Spa opened. What did you learn from the exciting time of opening a hotel?
NN: In the opening phase, what impressed me most was the team spirit, which is still very special today. I gained the joy of challenges and even things that seemed impossible, we were able to do together.

And these experiences from the opening phase prepared me very well for the time in the pandemic – because we also have major challenges here, such as the intensive exchange of information with our guests and the implementation of the constantly changing state regulations and specifications. On top there is an enormous demand for vacations at the North Sea this year.

What has been your career path in the ATLANTIC Hotels Group so far?
NN: I started as a receptionist and then switched to reservations. There I was promoted from supervisor reservations to deputy reservations manager. I'm currently the interim manager, as our manager is on parental leave and this challenge also brings me a lot of joy.

What excites you about your job?
NN: Our wonderful guests and the diverse tasks that come with it. And of course, to work with my wonderful team.

What tip or motto do you have in relation to guest communication?
NN: To always be honest and cordial and to communicate at eye level. And very important: There is strength in calmness.

In a luxury hotel, there are bound to be some very special wishes from time to time. Tell us a few.
NN:  Oh yes, there are! Food and room requests are a classic. Very special was the request that a certain menu should also be cooked for the dogs and that special porcelain plates had to be organized for the dogs. Also, I was once allowed to book a private jet for guests, which was the first time for me and for the guests it was something self-evident of course. Over time you get used to the fact that many wishes are "special wishes" for us and are quite normal for our guests.

Describe the way you work in four words.
NN: cordial - cheerful - personally – accurate

What is the biggest challenge for you in your job?
NN: To stay innovative. To inspire regular guests again and again.

What makes Severin*s Resort & Spa special for you?
NN: The warmth and cordiality of the team. There is a family atmosphere. There are also regular guests who send pictures from other vacations or send us pictures of their dogs and want to stay in contact with us beyond their stay on Sylt.

How do you feel about the cooperation with the ATLANTIC Hotels, is there a lot of exchange?
NN: The exchange has become more intensive through a cross-training in Bremen and has deepened the cooperation. Getting to know each other in person has been a great pleasure and it is always nice to hear from our colleagues in Bremen.

Do many international guests travel to Severin*s Resort & Spa or do the guests mostly come from Germany?
NN: Most of our guests come from German-speaking countries. Germany / Switzerland / Austria / Liechtenstein. We also have international guests who come to us from the USA, the Netherlands or from neighboring Denmark.

Where were you born and raised?
NN: In the "Schwabenländle", more precisely in Esslingen and then I did my apprenticeship at Hilton in Stuttgart.

What is it like to live on Sylt?
NN: Just beautiful. You live very close to nature and the beautiful beaches. Of course, it is already quite crowded during high season and you share everything with tourism. But there are still quiet corners where you can enjoy our beautiful island all over the year.

When I'm not working, I ...
NN: … enjoy my garden and try myself at growing vegetables. After all, it tastes best from your own garden. Otherwise, I travel a lot, either with friends or with my family.

Sylt is for me ...
NN: ... my second home.
